Characteristics of an Effective Steward PT. 1: Who was Simon Peter?

Peter was obviously one of the most, if not the most, prominent of Jesus' disciples. The New Testament paints a more complete picture of Peter than any of the other twelve disciples. We know far more about Peter than we know about some of the other disciples, where we barely know more than their name. John MacArthur notes this; he says, "Peter's name is mentioned in the Gospels more than any other name except Jesus. No one speaks as often as Peter, and no one is spoken to by the Lord as often as Peter. No disciple is so frequently rebuked by the Lord as Peter, and no disciple ever rebukes the Lord except Peter." For all we know about Peter, what was it that qualified him to be an Apostle of Jesus?
