Growing In Faith

What does it actually look like to grow in faith? Not just believe the right things, but genuinely mature into the kind of person whose life reflects the character of Christ? In 2 Peter 1, we are given a remarkable chain of virtues that answers exactly that question. From faith to virtue, knowledge to self-control, steadfastness to godliness, brotherly affection to love, each link represents a dimension of the Christian life that demands our intentional effort. The passage does not let us sit back and wait for transformation to happen to us. It calls us to make every effort, to invest strenuous energy into becoming who God has called us to be. This is not a message about earning salvation. It is a message about taking seriously the life we have been given in Christ and asking ourselves honestly: which link in my chain is weak?
